Monopoly and Life and Breasts (oh my)

We've been playing a bit of Monopoly this summer. Just for fun, we've been using the game to metaphorically discuss life. There are countless comparisons.

For example, some really do believe life is primarily a game of chance and numbers. Simply roll the right number, land on the right spot, and you win the game. VOILA!

Some of us are primarily occupied by our "toys." The number on the dice isn't nearly as important as the style with which we travel to our destination.

Some of us, though we've likely faced the situation before, continue to refer back to the rules or seek other reliable counsel before making important decisions.

Some of us buy our property based on the color, price and location. A surprising shade of fuchsia and location next to the guy who owns the electric company isn't so bad (incidentally, we happen to know both of these work well).

Then there are those of us who even relate to the Community Chest, oddly enough.

I should say, quite literally, some of us really ARE the community chest.

And there's not a single person in our family who hasn't benefited from...

        or been nourished by...
        or slept upon...
        or otherwise enjoyed said "chest."

How totally cool and resourceful is THAT?!

SPEAKING of which, someone (apparently) needs this momma's community chest right this very second. End of metaphor sharing...off to feed the babe.

GAME OVER.

Happy "Community Chest" Week!
(AKA World Breastfeeding Week)

Shaye, You guys are so clever!! Do you ever play a Monopoly game that turns into a marathon? I remember those long, long games where you're just begging someone to win :) I like the community chest perspective. Fun post!

Oh yes...I didn't mention this in my post, but we bought our first Monopoly set on our honeymoon. We figured it's one of those games every American family had to have. During our 2nd day of honeymooning we played (in between other stuff, of course) and that particular game turned into like a 5 hour marathon. I don't know if anyone actually WON. We probably had to do the "add up your property" thing to see who ended up with the most $$ in the end. LOL

Funny, I knew it was WBW and didn't see the tie-in coming. HA!

I love monopoly. I'm a little too competitive though. It gets a little ugly when I really care.

Lenetta~ LOL. I've gotta take my little tie-ins wherever I can find 'em. ;)

Farmgirl~ Yeah, my hubby is SOOOO competitive with Monopoly (and just about every other game we play around here).

Awesome post! To be honest, I always hated monopoly as a kid, cuz I always lost out to my sister, who was wayyyy too good at it, for an 8 year old, lol.

P.S. Stop by my blog to pick up the award I gave you =)

So true such lovely metaphors..I am the the impulsive one, who will go by the shade of the fuschia and the hubby will get back to the rule book time and time again..so irritating!! but the monopoly games in our house usually end up in a big fight and the board overturned..:(
