A Series of Firsts
As parents of very young children, our lives are continually a series of firsts. Every day is something new for SOMEONE in the family. That's at least one reason why picture taking (and blogging) are so much fun. There are new sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and experiences to be had. And oh how fun it is to see a "first" through a new set of innocent eyes. Simply breathtaking.
This first part of summer has already seen us through a long list of wonderful firsts:
Brayla's first lost tooth (she actually lost two teeth in three days).
Brandon's first trip to dentist.
Brighton's first potty on the toilet (at 14 months old--gotta love EC).
Our first "real" family portrait as a family of 5.
Brayla's first dance lesson.
First eye appointment for Brayla.
First real desk for Brayla.
Daddy's PhD graduation.
First 2009 summer swim.
Brayla's first dentist appointment.
Brandon's first (in a very long time) sleep through the entire night.
Brighton's one-year portraits.
First summer swim lessons for Brayla and Brandon.
Our first whole-family camping trip.
First trip to Storybook Island.
Our first raised garden.
Our first trip to our midwife's new birth office.
Brayla's first eye appointment.
Brighton's first tricycle ride.
Brayla's first bicycle (without training wheels) ride.
First "goodbye" to best friends.

What firsts are YOU experiencing this summer?

So when am I getting the pictures?
:-) I love the collage! Also loved ones of the boys on Wednesday. But the portraits, and I love the side view of Brayla at ballet. I love you.
Love the photo collage! Really cool. Isn't it a joy as a mom to celebrate all these firsts? Nothing can compare to seeing the pride and joy on a child's face when they succeed at something for the first time. Congrats to you on your son's potty success too!
That post made me smile from begining to the end. Really these firsts are memorable. The collage is beautiful, I have a similar one of my kids in the house, and it always cheers me up looking at it.
I love your outlook on life! You savor, soak up, and revel in each precious moment! If more mothers would be like you the world would be a better place!
Wow that is quite a list. I have to say I really like the sleeping through the night. Nothing like a good night's sleep.
these are so fun! i love the idea of this :)
WOW! That is a lot of firsts!
the collage is AWESOME! great way to remember all those "firsts" so what did "Daddy" get his PhD in? mine is chemistry (this inquiring mind wants to know!)
Hello,
actually I bet we have met before. I attend church at Chadron United Methodist and so do you. Justin and I are in Joyful Noise and we lead some of the bible studies during family night. So I am close! I'm also Jess's sister so this is how I am hookes up with a blog. Justin and I are conservative so Jess has to keep me in the loop sometimes.
I love the smores pictures! They are fabulous!!!
I am attending CSC for a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education as a double major. I think I may even be in Lee's class this fall. I have found that the longer we are here the harder it is to not know the professors and people on campus. We all have to make a living and we are part of a smaller community here in Chadron.
Kiss those beautiful children for us and hope to see you soon.
