Prepare to be amazed...

I'm so excited this morning. My (blogging) friend, Rixa, just gave birth to Dio this week and posted the entire birth story last night.

YIPPEE!

Dio was born on Sunday in Rixa's home. She decided not to go to church because she might be in labor. She sent her hubby and daughter on to services and stayed home to enjoy the peaceful morning, alone. Her baby arrived around 2:30pm that afternoon. WOW!

She posted some beautiful short video, as well. The first video is just amazing. I hope you'll find time to read and enjoy!

LOL I guess I should clarify...she's my bloggy friend. Never met IRL, we've only emailed and blogged. However, I've been told these days there's very little difference in IRL and Cyberspace. You're my friend, too, Niecey! <3

Thank you so much for posting this. The story is awesome. I am still going nuts trying to find out all I can before we start trying (7 months to go . . .)

Amanda, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. When it's not messed with, birth is truly miraculous to witness. It's sad to see how we've medicalized birth to a point that baby's and mommy's hormones hardly have a chance to do what they were created to do during birth. Rixa's story was just beautiful--so raw, honest, and yet peaceful and comforting. Most no longer believe this is possible.

I'm so excited for you! I think you mentioned, before, that you're at least interested in a home water birth. That's what we planned, too. If you've read our story then you know in the last 30-45 minutes I got out of the water, waddled down the hallway, and pushed my baby out onto the bed. But laboring in the water was SOOOO soothing.

I've had a med-free hospital labor and now an out-of-hospital water labor and I loved how I could get into just about any laboring position in the water. I labored sitting, I got up and squatted, I labored on all fours, and I labored hanging over the side (leaning on hubby). That buoyancy really helped with comfortable positioning. And I believe that warm, cozy water additionally helped me with perineum stretching (saving me from any tearing--even with an almost 15" head--which I was warned I would have since I was a teenager).

Anyway, I can't wait to see your journey if you share it through your blog!

Hugs!
